Our Mission
Grae Matta Foundation’s vision is for every individual in higher education and the workplace to have access to appropriate mental health support the moment they need it. Grae Matta Foundation was established in response to the individuals not receiving the mental health understanding and support they needed when they needed it. Through personal experience, our Founder, Dr Ferron Gray knows the detrimental impact this has on individuals and families, with the risk being suicide.
We aim to create enforceable mental health standards utilising our own and existing government frameworks to ensure Higher Education Institutions (HEI) and all workplaces provide guidance and access to the appropriate support service when an individual needs it. We build, test and challenge viable mental health initiatives to establish a best practice model for each industry. Our long-term goal is to create a world where every single individual who requires access, will gain access to quality services in a timely manner without barriers.
Grae Matta Foundation is planning to partner with the British Standards Institute (BSI), the largest standards agency in the Commonwealth. Our immediate focus is to enter into an agreement with the BSI to create the UK’s first enforceable national standard on how to access mental health services at every stage of an individual’s journey in higher education.
To address the immediate need of this situation, with the rising mental health crisis in universities and need for innovative support services, Grae Matta Foundation will develop a Publicly Available Specification (PAS) to ensure the standard is produced as quickly as possible.
